I’m a writer returning to the fold after many years. I have no formal writing education beyond a few creative writing and poetry classes in college. But I have been writing stories ever since I was a child. If I wasn’t writing them down, I was at least telling myself stories in my head. I was recently bitten by the writing bug and now I can’t stop. I’m writing mostly for fun and practice right now, but hope to write something I feel is worthy to submit to a literary journal or online zine, and maybe I will even enter a few writing contests in the near future.
I plan to use this blog to track my progress as I try to hone my writing skills. I will post up what I’m working on, word counts, contests I may enter, updates on stories I may submit for publication and more. Since I am a podcast junkie, I will also highlight podcasts I enjoy. And when I stumble upon a new writing resource, I’ll be sure to share.
Purple Ink Spot? I chose the name because I do all my writing by hand and then I type it up later. (I often use that time typing to start the first round of edits.) But I do all that writing in purple ink. When I see the purple ink on the page, I am inspired and the words begin to flow. Black and blue inks are too common, too dull, uninspiring. It’s all about the purple.
